Heartfelt
From Anonymous of Danbury, Connecticut on 4/25/2013 .
A truly thought-provoking book that illustrates the true and most basic meaning of happiness and contentment in life. The three lessons that shaped Marty's life should be nurtured in all school children, at least in my opinion. Marty's life story will make you stop to think about your perspective on life in general. Highly recommended!

Top 5 Books EVER
From Randy of Los Angeles, California on 1/15/2013 .
This book lives in my heart as one of the top 5 books I've ever read. The teachings of our friend Marty, shared by V.J. Smith, will change your life and inspire one to alter the way of being for the rest of your life. I've seen this book used in Schools for 4th & 5th graders, Churches and Temples for Sermons. There is something extremely special about this book that should be shared with the world. Highly Recommended!
The Richest Man in Town
From Gary Schnellert of Sartell, Minnesota on 12/29/2012 .
A story that grabs your attention and then tugs at your heart strings. Marty was a man who has gone through the hills and valleys of life with his wife and family. The man has worked hard all his life but always made the best of it and treated people as he wanted to be treated with dignity and respect. A must read for anyone in the service industry.

From Mark Grayson of Salisbury, Maryland on 12/24/2012 .
A wonderful and uplifting book. I must admit that I got a little damp in my eye sockets upon reading it. Reminds me of how to remain positive and why to remain positive each day. Immediately ordered additional books to give to friends/business partners upon reading it. A quick and easy read but still impactful. Highly recommend!

What a beautiful reminder of the important things in life. I've heard it said that most of us don't remember who won the Super Bowl or World Series 10 years ago but we always remember the people that change our lives. Marty was one of those people and he did it by making a decision to act a certain way. Thank you for helping me remember to focus on what's important and to keep making the decision to be happy and kind every day!

A sweet story of a remarkable man, and how something as simple as sharing a handshake and a hug can make a difference. (The story could have been told in half the number of pages, however)

From Robert Lauer of Albert Lea, Minnesota on 4/19/2011 .
I recieved this book as a gift from a man I met in Cancun while on vacation. I was absoulutely stunned when I read that VJ Smith and Marty's wife spoke at the church I attendend and at our school in Tracy MN. where I was once a teacher. This is one of the most moving and powerful stories that I have ever read and I still get tears in my eyes when I think about such a caring individual as Marty! I have recommended the book to a check out girl at Walmart in my town and she was overwhelmed by the story. I sent a copy to Australia as a birthday present for a girl I knew as an exchange student while I was a teacher in Tracy and she emailed me back that she remembers meeting Marty while she visited the U.S. 40 years ago. Needless to say, she cried when she read the book. I recommend this book highly and I encourage everyone to at least watch the video which is available on both youtube and your website. Thank you for all the encouraging and motivating books and videos that you make available at a reasonable cost.. They truly make a positive difference in people's lives. ...Bob L.

The Richest Man in Town is one of the most inspiring books I have ever read in my entire life. When I see really friendly staff at Walmart, I ask them if they have read this book. If they haven't, I tell them all about simpletruths.com because this Web site is honestly the best Web site I have ever gone to. I own several of the books, DVD's, and pictures. I have some of the pictures on my desk at work and I keep at least three books on the shelf for my staff to read whenever they want or while they wait for me to get off the phone. Thank you so much Simple Truths!

Cold and routine day here...
From Gina of Santa Cruz, California on 2/24/2011 .
I was going through my e-mail when I noted that my daughter who lives abroad was on line, so I sent her a message through instant messaging. Something brief, me in a humdrum slump today. Afterward, I went back to the 20 or so e-mail messages, "Simple Truths," was next for either deletion or saving for future reading. The message, 'this brings a tear...' was just too compelling for me to pass by. Sure enough, as I went read through the first 4 to 5 pages, tears started to stream ~ not just a tear, mind you, but tears of acknowledgement for this man named, "Marty". I was also in retail and this awesome practice was installed during the last year or so of my employment at a high-end jewelry store. A contrasting environment from Wal-Mart stores, yet that simple and sincere gesture of saying, "thank you," and going 'outside the box,' if you will, shaking their hands and bidding them their 'good bye's' meant a lot to my customers. Yes, I, too, had lines ~ often, my customers would come back to me after an hour or so. You see, the merchandise I sold couldn't just be rung up on a conveyor belt...My customers became 'family,' after a few years in the business. I, like Marty, enjoyed that same kind of camaradrie and joy with everyone who I was fortunate enough to serve. I will definitely post the link on my Facebook page. It's a very inspiring read and "Marty," will also be in their heads. Sincerely, Gina PS: Next, I am going to enjoy my day with more well-intentioned things I want to do. Thanks again ~ You've made my day!
